A Dolly Parton statue, presented in the grounds of Tennessee State Capitol.

A statue of Dolly Parton may have been erected in the grounds of Tennessee State Capitol.

State Representative John Mark Windle has presented the statue on the property to recognize the contribution of all the country icons to the state.

The construction and installation of the statue will be funded by “Non-state sources” such as “gifts, grants and other donations” will be put into separate accounts to raise money for development and implementation of the plan. According to Windle’s bill, he offers a similar plan for maintaining the statue after installation.

Additionally, the artwork will be commissioned and “Comments will be sought from the public and other interested parties for the purpose of developing the plan, including the proposed design ideas for the statue.”
