The Brodsky organization, which owns the building at 360 W. 43rd St. in Manhattan, said in a statement on Tuesday it had completed a hearing of the porters’ response to the March 29 attacks.

“The full lobby video showed that once the attacker had exited, a door emerged to rescue victims and flag the NYPD vehicles, it was clear that emergency and safety measures were not required,” the company said.

“We were very frustrated and shocked by this incident and our hearts went to the victim,” it added.

The door was suspended after the attack awaiting the outcome of the investigation. Residents of the building defended the man in an open letter to the organization, saying the footage from the vigil. Their actions were “most misunderstood”

; and they did not believe their team members. “Failed as residents of our Midtown Manhattan community or our fellow AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islander) New Yorker”

Brandon Elliott, the alleged assailant, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree assault, a hate crime and another for attempted assault on a scale. That one is a hate crime, according to the New York Police Department.

Elliot, 38, is accused of being anti-Asians against women during the assault. The woman suffered serious injuries, including bruises and fractured pelvis, and was treated at a hospital in Manhattan, according to the NYPD.

The early morning attacks came against the backdrop of Asian and Asian-American attacks, including a spa shootout in the Atlanta area that killed eight people, six of them Asian women.

The NYPD recorded 31 anti-Asian crimes in the city so far this year, compared to zero this time last year.

Local union SEIU 32BJ identified the two fired employees as porters and facilitators who were members of the union. President Kyle Bragg noted in a statement that the union “It consists of mostly immigrants, black and brown workers.”

“Under their collective bargaining agreement, both employees have the right to lodge a grievance, have a contractual process to challenge the termination of the employee, have initiated that process. But the process is just beginning and it can take weeks or even months, ”Bragg said.“ We are vigorously against hatred in Asia and discrimination of all kinds. ”
