Very rare early versions of Minecraft. which was thought to have been lost for a long time It has been rediscovered more than ten years after its release. Minecraft alpha 1.1.1 was released for the original Java Edition in September 2010 and only lasted about three hours. And now it’s rediscovered by game archivists.
There have been hundreds of versions of Minecraft over the years, and most of them have been carefully collected and stored by fans for storage reasons. However, one version in particular, Alpha 1.1.1 or Seecret Saturday, is thought to have been lost altogether. While it introduced sneaking and fishing rods in Minecraft, it was discovered that there was a game bug that would completely gray out the screen. So it was replaced by version 1
.1.2 in a few hours. The full story of this new discovery was told via Twitter by user @lunasorcery (via Kotaku) who found the missing Alpha. Minecraft Discord Omniarchive archive and no one expected to find it.
Someone discovered one of Luna’s old tweets and asked her about it. and finally she discovered the old backup of minecraft.jar With the same date as Alpha 1.1.1 release – September 18, 2010 Luna reviewed the files and confirmed that it was indeed Alpha 1.1.1 which she posted about Omniarchive – which exploded.
So I’m posting on the Omniarchive server and it might be an understatement to say that a few people noticed.

Even more impressively, after Luna forwarded it to the Omniarchive moderators, they decided that she had downloaded it for 89 seconds before it was deleted and replaced with 1.1.2. After discovering the Holy Grail of the Minecraft archive, Luna Go and find Cross of Coronado too – .jar of c0.29_01 which came out in 2009 and was previously only available in modified form.
Moral of the story: Don’t delete anything.
(also supports archivists, they are doing important work)
