Alabama head football coach Nick Saban announced the addition of Drew Svoboda to the Crimson Tide squad on Monday as special team coordinator and closing coach.

Svoboda arrived in Capstone after three years as a special team coach at Rice and one spring as a special team coordinator at Memphis.He also spent a year as a back coach (2018) for the Owls and two. A year in teaching full-back (2019-20), before he entered college, Svoboda was a highly successful head coach at Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas.

In 2020, Svoboda’s owls played five games amid an outbreak with Rice’s highly-produced special team. The bettors connect nine of the 12 goals on the field, while the unit kicks average 42.8 yards per kick.Rice is ranked 14th in the country in the 2020 All-Special Team Ranking by Pro Football Focus. Svoboda made the leap to college coaching in 2018 after leading Klein Collins High School to five district championships, eight semi-final appearances and a record 93-24. In 10 seasons as Tiger’s head coach Win percentage. His 795 was sixth among Texas 6A head coaches at the end of the 2017 season.
Svoboda is chairman of the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association and is on the board of directors of the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), serving as one of the five district directors.
Svoboda is a tight end and a quarterback and an academic conference. Twice All-Southland Stephen F. Austin, he helped lead the logger to the 1999 Southland Conference position.Svoboda and his wife Kristi were parents of two children, daughter Austyn and son Jack.
