‘American Idol’ welcomes Katharine Macfie back for a powerful duet.

Katherine McPhee is back on stage for “American Idol”.

The singer-actor, 37, won runner-up at the fifth season of the singing competition, losing to Taylor Hicks.

Now she’s back on the show to perform alongside two contestants this season, Alyssa Wray and Willie Spence.

“Growing up, I would lie in my mom’s bed and watch ‘American Idol’ and I remember when. [McPhee] It’s on the show, ”Wray said on the package on the show.“ I just thought you were this crazy powerhouse. ”

The ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ contestants performed on stage, received their transportation during the referee̵

The two performed “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston together, although 19-year-old Wray was unfamiliar with the song prior to their rehearsal.

“We were going to sing Whitney Houston’s ‘I’m You Baby Tonight’, which I heard you didn’t even know, which brought me to tears because that’s how young you are,” the “Smash” actress joked.

The performance stunned the referee who charged at both of them.

“The two of you are together, I told you and complimented each other,” said Lionel Richie, “… together it makes it look like you’ve been doing it for a hundred years.”

“I think you are the first singer to get on stage with other stars,” admired Katy Perry.

Spence kicked off his night with Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings” cover, before welcoming McPhee to the stage for Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli’s The Prayer.

“One thing I think is very special to you and I love about singers is the ability to make you feel like you’re telling a story,” McPhee said at their rehearsal.

The star dedicated the show to her father, who passed away three years ago.

“I hope it will be as special to the audience as us,” she gushed.

As was the case with McPhee’s performance with Wray, the three judges had nothing but good words to say about the duo.

McPhee has appeared several times on “American Idol” since being nominated for No. 2 in 2006, according to IMDb. She appeared on seasons 7, 15 and 18 of the show in addition to Sunday night shows.
