Guilty Gear Strive’s general director Daisuke Ishiwatari and director of development Akira Katano sat down for an interview with 4Gamer where they had a lengthy discussion about the title coming out next week.
The discussion covers a wide range of topics. But our ears caught special attention during talks about the DLC characters planned for the first season of Strive. We knew that five of them were on their way to join the initial 15 fighter roster. And learn that not everyone will return to franchise favorites.
4Gamer asked a panel of judges what the timeframe for the DLC release would be and who might come. Their answer was little expected, but Ishiwatari made some interesting contributions.
“We cannot release any character names until they are released. But we are planning to provide a release window,” Katano said. “All five characters have been decided. So we want to show you as soon as possible.”
“Of the five There will be at least one new character,” Ishiwatari added.
The fight welcomes two never-before-seen fighters together as Giovanna, a special operations officer who protects the President of the United States and is accompanied by wolf spirits named Rei and Nagoriyuki. The vampire samurai are making their GG debut.
4Gamer also inquired about how the development team has added these two additions. Asked about the idea that gave birth to Nagoriyuki and Giovanna.
“Nagoriyuki’s visuals were created with the story as the center of attention. He just appeared like that in my head and I drew him like that. The brush won’t stop moving,” replied Ishiwatari.
“On the other hand We have a lot of trouble with Giovanna as the spy protecting the president. We cannot make her designs look too extravagant. And in the end, she’s become a character that doesn’t ‘Guilty Gear much.’ It was gratifying to see her end up high in the popularity polls.”
Guilty Gear Strive is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on June 11. Please check back often here at EventHubs for developer discussions. Game coverage and more as an exciting new chapter of Guilty Gear unfolds.
