Barr describes his break with Trump.

Former Attorney General William Barr dismissed former President Donald Trump’s election fraud allegations of being “bison***” in a new interview released on Sunday in the Atlantic.

“My attitude is It was a time to rest or shut up,” Barr recalls at one point. “If there is evidence of fraud I have no motivation to suppress it. But my suspicion has always been that nothing is there. It’s all bulls***.”

The comments are part of a series of interviews Barr conducted this spring with ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, who wrote an article on the Atlantic describing Barr̵

7;s breakup with Trump after the 2020 election.

Trump has lost the election to President Biden now. But trying to subvert the will of the voters by pushing for conspiracy theories and falsehoods, claiming he actually won major states, Trump clearly hopes Barr’s Justice Department will help him in his efforts. Barr is seen. That he was loyal to Trump and the attorney general has been widely criticized about the release of the Mueller report.

Instead, Barr undermines Trump’s false allegations of voter fraud. In a December 2020 interview with the Associated Press, Barr said, “Until now, we haven’t seen a degree of fraud that could affect different outcomes in elections.”

Trump and his allies have pushed back a number of discredited claims. This includes a voting machine that turns Trump’s vote to Biden. (“We knew from the start that it was just a bull***,” Barr told the Atlantic about the idea that voting machines were changing the vote.

In the Atlantic, Barr said most leaders at the time, Mitch McConnell, had encouraged him to speak about the election. “Bill, I looked around and you were the only one who could,” McConnell told Barr, according to reports.

Trump apparently offended Barr for his comments to the AP.

“How the fuck can you do this to me? Why would you say that?” Trump told Barr at a White House meeting, according to the Atlantic.

“Because it is true,” Barr replied.

“You must hate Trump. You must hate Trump,” Trump continued.

In a tense meeting in the White House Trump reportedly confronted Barr with numerous complaints. From the lies about the election results to the way the Justice Department operates during the campaign.

about two weeks later Trump tweeted Barr’s resignation, largely dedicated to praising the president.

“Just met Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship is a very good relationship. He’s doing great!” Trump tweeted. “According to the letter, Bill is leaving before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family.”
