Michigan has contenders for the 2021 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Monday, the Big Ten announced that the Big Ten Championship defenders Wolverines will travel to Chapel Hill for a showdown against North Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 1 as part of the event.
Tipping times and networking will be announced at a later date. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will jointly broadcast all 14 games.
Wolverines and Tar Heels increased eight times. And the total series is 4-4. In fact, both programs have played three of the last four seasons. Which was all non-conference early in the season. The Maize and Blue lost (86-71
) at the UNC in 2017-18 before avenged the defeat with an 84-67 victory in 2018-19 and a win. In Battle 4 Atlantis in 2019-20 (73-64)There have been four NCAA Tournament matches between Michigan and UNC, including three in a row since 1987-89. Michigan lost in the second round, 1987 (109-97) and 1988 Sweet 16 (78-68), ahead of Sweet 16’s victory. In 1989 (92-87) helped the Corn and Blues win national titles in 1989, their fourth in the 1992 national game, winning UNC 77-71.
The Big Ten have won this challenge two years in a row. Although the ACC has an all-time advantage of 12-7-3, Michigan has an all-time 8-11 record in the race.

UNC finished last season with a record 18-11 and lost to Wisconsin in the round of 64 of the NCAA tournament, the former UNC head coach. Roy Williams Retirement campaigns and programs have new people. Hubert DavisAt the helm, former Tar Heel player, Davis coached the NBA for several years before joining Williams’ team at UNC in 2012 and serving as assistant coach until his promotion this season.
Tar Heels checks in at 25th nationally in T-Rank’s 2021-22 pre-season forecast, while Wolverines, fourth, UNC are set to bring back 65.2% of their minutes from the season. Previously, according to the website
Michigan’s non-conference schedule has yet to be fully announced, but UNC is one of several known opponents. The Wolverines will host the Seton Hill (Gavitt Tipoff Games) and Kentucky (December 4) and travel. At UCF, they will also be attending the MGM Resorts Main Event in Las Vegas (Nov. 19-21) along with fellow attendees of Wichita State, Arizona and UNLV.
