Boeing fired 65 employees and disciplined 53 others for “racism, discrimination or hate”, according to a report released on Friday by the multinational aircraft manufacturing giant.
“There is no place for hate in our company, and we will continue to expect the best from everyone in our interactions,” according to a press release that summarized the company’s report on diversity from its CEO. Dave Calhoun
The report said the disciplinary action stems from the company’s “Diversity Equality Plan” and the creation of the Equality Diversity Force that began last year.
“As we saw the horrors in the news and heard horrifying stories from our people, our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion was stronger,”; the report said. “It is clear that we have the opportunity to be a force for change within our walls and in our communities – and we are moving forward today.”
