CoxHealth redirects COVID-19 patients to St. Louis and Kansas City for treatment.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – First, we tell you Monday, CoxHealth has sent four COVID-19 patients to the Saint Louis area. The hospital’s system has confirmed that it has redirected 23 patients to other hospitals in St. Louis and Kansas. City

Staff at Cox South Hospital began treating 14 patients Tuesday evening. Hospitals will not transfer COVID-19 patients to other healthcare facilities. But the system accepted two transfers from non-CoxHealth facilities earlier on Tuesday, June 29.

But variable status can change often depending on the burden of COVID-1

The hospital warned the community about this possibility earlier this month. After the hospitalization began to increase again.

System posted on June 18:

“We are dedicated to caring for every patient in the safest way possible. because other major cities In Missouri there is not a rapid increase. Their hospital may have enough capacity and can help us take care of our community during this expanding period. which is related to the delta variable

Many factors today are different than they were a few months ago. During the latest COVID-19 outbreak, CoxHealth employees were joined by hundreds of traveling nurses and respiratory therapists dedicated to caring for COVID-19 patients. Unfortunately, the number of these individuals is currently limited. This fact is compounded by the fact that COVID-19 patients Intense attention and a great deal of expertise which requires more personnel than other agencies

Meanwhile, BJC HealthCare in St. Louis tells us it is treating 19 patients from outside the St. Louis region. including four from the Springfield area.”
