Dabo Swinney’s now-infamous rating of Ohio State in his last Coaches Poll was important even before Buckeyes blasted Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
Swinney placed OSU at 11th, claiming that since they only played six games, they did not get a top 10 ranking.Of course, this controversy was not born out of real talent.
Swinney said the Buckeyes had the ability to beat his squad and that was just what they did, routing Clemson before beating Alabama in today’s national championship game. His decision on the Ohio State rating he made.
But he insisted his vote was not meant to be a slap in the face.
#Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney Talks His Last Coaches Poll Again Reiterated his vote was not about Ohio. “Ohio State fought as hard as anyone would play, it wasn’t their fault,” Swinney said he did not consider any team playing less than nine games for his Top 10.

Is Dabo’s logic here stupid? Might. Ohio State uses a little perception as a motivation? Most likely
At the end of the day, this controversy quickly disappeared. You can bet it will be brought back, although the Tigers and Bucky will meet at the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row in 2021.
