The recall covers 2012 through 2021 Ram 3500 heavy-duty trucks, Ram 4500 and 5500 cabs with dual rear wheels and flange mounting bolts sold mainly in North America.
Some service and owner manuals specify incorrect torque requirements for tightening the mounting bolts. If the retaining nut is too tight The wheel pins can be damaged and cause the wheel to come off.
Fiat Chrysler, owned by Stellantis, said the wheels were properly tightened at the factory. Vehicles that will be affected are vehicles with wheels removed for service.
Vehicle owners will be notified over the next eight weeks. The dealer will inspect and replace the wheel studs if necessary.
There are no known crashes or injuries related to the issue.
