Ellen DeGeneres detailed her experience with COVID after testing positive for the potentially fatal virus just before Christmas when she was forced to cancel her show.
The 62-year-old television host returned to her first show of the New Year this week and told viewers she slept for 16 hours a day and had a lot of back pain.
Ellen insists she is ‘fine’ now and thanked her fans for the support and good messages as she struggled with the condition.

Speaking about her condition, Ellen said: ‘There was a lot of rejection going on, so I thought we’d talk about some of the positive things for my coronavirus test. I tested positive before the holidays, now I’m all fine.
‘I want to thank everyone who extended a hand to encourage. I hope I can hug you all. But that would be dangerous and illegal. ‘
Ellen then spoke to the audience, who was supposed to attend her 12-day special giveaway, before it was canceled and said: ‘Thank you audience for coming back, you should be in the audience for a month. December But we have to cancel. ‘

She revealed that prior to her acting, it was due to a movie she discovered she had a positive effect on the coronavirus, adding: ‘I’m getting ready for a show that you should be in, my extensions put on and powder.

Ellen went on to say what her ordeal was like when she returned home where she lived with her wife Portia de Rossi for 12 years.

She joked: ‘Portia made me sleep in another room on another bed because she wanted the bed in the car to be raised entirely by herself.
‘For the first three days I slept for 16 hours a day, and then on the fourth day I woke up with a spasm in my back so I thought I would pull on my muscles or sleep funny.
‘But still there was, so the doctor ordered me to take painkillers and muscle relaxants – Jackpot! Eventually this was all over.
‘Painkillers didn’t help, it felt like I had a broken rib. So they put me on steroids But it gets you very fast and frustrated. ‘
She said: ‘I want to thank everyone who put in their hands with support. I hope I can hug you all. But that would be dangerous and illegal. ‘(Recent image)
‘So I’m totally with it, painkillers, muscle relaxants, and steroids – not sure if that’s the best approach, I’m not a doctor.’
‘I’m still with them, I think the rest is helpful. I spoke to my brother and told him about his back pain.He had the same friends, and I spoke to a number of other people. You know now! It’s the only symptom that I have.
‘I started to feel better, so I was very fortunate and I feel okay now. I don’t know how I got it, I wear a mask and wash my hands and lick only the three door handles.
‘For the people who are struggling with illness now my heart goes out to them.’
Ellen has used social media to declare she is the victim of a virus that has spread around the world in the past ten months.

Last year, the promotion went off at the end of the season, and she took a break for the holidays after the last day aired on December 23.
This year, the show will give daily gifts to frontline workers, first responders, medical workers and families most affected by the outbreak.
