Ohio State rarely loses qualifying battles for wanted men within state borders. But on Tuesday night, Notre Dame outperformed Ryan Day and Larry Johnson.

Vernon’s pledge to Brian Kelly, Marcus Freeman and the rest of Notre Dame̵7;s coaching staff. It happened just two days after he ended his informal visit to South Bend. He also visited Ohio to set up camp last week. and said there is still a long way to go until he finally makes a decision.
Vernon is the 18th overall goal and the sixth defensive lineman in 2023. He is second Ohio after Pickerington Central’s five-star safety Sonny Styles. Styles, whose father played for Ohio State and his brother played for Notre Dame.
If he doesn’t change his mind Vernon will be the first Ohio 5-star player not to join Ohio State. Since Clemson won the 2018 offensive battle for Jackson Carman, he is the first five stars from Ohio to choose Notre Dame Cathedral since school graduate Tommy Kramer. At the end of 2016 high school Tommy Kramer, the country’s third ranked fighter. It was done in the middle of the last decade.
