Rev. Franklin Graham said the 2024 presidential bid by Donald Trump. “It’s very difficult to do,” a key Christian leader told “Axios on HBO”.
Why is this important: Graham, the Evangelical Society president Billy Graham and Samaritan’s Purse are one of Trump’s oldest and most prominent evangelical defenders.
Graham told “Axios on HBO”. Trump’s comeback will be difficult given his advanced age and eating habits.
- “I think for him it all depends on his health back then, if he still has the strength and stamina he does, I can’t.”
- “You know that guy can̵7;t eat well, you know, and it’s amazing with the energy he has.”
- “He’s 15 pounds lost, maybe he’s in good health and in great shape, I don’t know.”
Trump will turn 78 in 2024, the same age as Joe Biden in 2020.
Big picture: Graham stood alongside Trump through repeated scandals, telling “Axios on HBO” in 2018 that he saw Trump as a defender of the faith.
- “Now, people say, ‘Well Frank, but how do you protect him when he’s living such a terrible life?’ I never said he was the best example of the Christian faith. I really appreciate that. “
