Health officials said There could be a number of reasons for the decline in vaccination rates in these areas. This is what makes the map above useful for pinning areas that might benefit from additional outreach or mobile vaccination clinics.

Health experts say geographic disparities can lead to COVID “highlights”, with greater potential for outbreaks.

PHMDC said it has listed the addresses of people who have received the COVID vaccine, which are documented in the Wisconsin Immunization Registry.

Some people residing in Dane County may not appear in the WIR data, such as UW-Madison students with a home address listed outside the county, so vaccination rates around the Isthmus and other areas where students live may be unrealistic.

PHMDC added that some addresses cannot be geocoded. This means that health officials can’t send 4% of vaccinated people into specific municipalities or territories.

News 3 Now will host another vaccine day on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at William G. Lunney Lake Farm Park and at the News 3 Now station car park.
