Home fire in West Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – Crew fighting a fire in Scranton Thursday afternoon.

Scranton’s fire chief said there was a call ahead of 3:00 p.m. for the 1400 Amherst Street house explosion in Scranton.

Smoke can be seen for miles.

The crew worked to protect a nearby house as the flames melted the walls.

One issue that troubles the team is that there is a power cable on the street near the house. The PPL cuts power to this specific area.

We spoke to an observer who was here while the house was on fire.

“When I first got home, I just saw the smoke in the air and I just came to check it, and I actually caught pictures of the house slowing down the fire,”

; Brian Delatore said.

I don’t know anyone in the house. The crew had to control the fire before they could find what was left of the house.
