Incompatibility might not be Microsoft’s only major acquisition target of late. Bloomberg Sources claim that Microsoft is in “advanced talks” to buy speech tech giant Nuance in a deal valued at about $ 16 billion. Although there is no guarantee that it will continue. But talks have made enough progress that the two can announce a deal as early as this week.
We have asked for feedback from Microsoft and Nuance.
Insiders claim to not say why Microsoft would want to buy Nuance, however, the acquisition could offer several advantages.Nuance is best known for its AI-guided speech recognition, and Microsoft can combine that and AI tools. Others (including customer service tools) included in their products. A possible deal could fuel Microsoft̵7;s healthcare ambitions. The company has already worked with Nuance on the Cloud for Healthcare and a number of other projects, including one that will turn physician-patient conversations into medical records.
This doesn’t necessarily pose a threat for Nuance’s publicly available technology, such as Dragon Anywhere voice dictation software. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Microsoft would rethink the strategy for it, so don’t be surprised if it can. Finally get an overhaul or fold into other Microsoft apps and services.
