The Raiders hired Gus Bradley to serve as defense coordinator on Tuesday, with Bradley saying he wanted Las Vegas to be a quick defensive and make a point.
While the Raiders have invested heavily in defense through draft and free agency over the past two seasons, the team still has scored 30 in 2020.
Entering the fourth season of his second stint as Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is not looking for Bradley to be the only solution to all defensive problems.
“I don̵7;t think a man can fix his defense,” Gruden said through Vic Tafur of TheAthletic.com. We have a young team and this guy is a great motivator and a great teacher. He’s going to teach a world-winning system, a system he’s developed. ”
Tafur reports the Raiders will hire former Chargers quarterback coach Ron Milus and coach Richard Smith, who works under Bradley in Los Angeles, while Bradley is known for using the Cover 3 format, but he said on Tuesday. That the system has many types and can be modified
“I don’t care about statistics and everything. But I like the results over time and the way he refines it. Every year he presents it a little differently. It sounds great and it’s a very learnable system, ”says Gruden.“ You can keep up with young players very quickly. You can add players and follow them very quickly, that’s what I love about it. And have a work history “
Probably not one person, but Raiders need Bradley’s systems to keep their personnel efficient to reach the season.
