Nearly 6,000 Avista customers have no electricity in Spokane.



SPOKANE, Wash. — Nearly 6,000 Avista customers have no electricity in Spokane.

According to Avista’s outage maps, the downtime affects people in the district. Nevada/Lidgerwood Residents of the Country Homes area and homes along Government Way between Palisades Park and Spokane Falls Community College. A separate power outage affects people in the High Drive, Eagle Ridge and Thorpe Road areas.

At its peak, about 8,250 people had no electricity. This was partly due to an unplanned power outage from Avista to back up power.

The first blackout was reported at 1:45 p.m. and everything would revert by 6:00 p.m., just as the hottest temperatures of the day were expected to reach.

Avista did not specify the cause of the downtime. But the team has already been sent to the area.
