County officials are setting up a number of COVID-19 vaccination sites and are looking for volunteers to help distribute the species.
Sites called super point-of-dispensing, or PODs, are set up throughout the county and are expected to vaccinate thousands of residents every day. Disneyland was the first to be announced on Monday and four more are expected and will need to be managed seven days a week, officials said.
Officials said they hope to pre-register volunteers, which will help run the site. The county requires those who have received medical training. But also people who can assist with common assignments such as directing traffic, entering data into computers and registering.
When questions arose at an Orange County board of supervisors meeting Tuesday whether people could volunteer just to get the vaccine first, which is being released at different stages, Moderator Lisa Bartlett said they had. Inform at least four registered persons in a 10-hour shift will be eligible for the medication.
“The idea is for long-term volunteers,” Bartlett said.
