Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s best joke is Lawrence Lawrence’s farewell

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart See the return of the series’ main villain, Dr. Nefarious, a robotic mad scientist determined to rule the galaxy. He’s also an incompetent, dope addict, and Ratchet and Clank have ruined his plans several times since he first appeared in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.but Rift Apart Teach us new and unexpected things about villains. He was clearly a pretty good employer.

If you’re a fan of Ratchet & Clank and you’ve been paying attention to the trailers and screenshots of Nefarious in Rift ApartYou may have asked yourself, “Where is Lawrence?” for the uninitiated. Lawrence is Dr. Nefarious̵

7;s robot butler and assistant. He’s smarter than his boss. But he didn’t have the same malicious intent. Over the years that he has worked with Dr. Nefarious, most are pleased to see his boss fail. Clean up after the mess and get ready to try new things But Lawrence did not appear in Ratchet & Clank: Rift ApartAnd the reasons in the game are both hilarious and heart-warming.

[[[[Spoiler warning: This post contains spoilers for two jokes in Ratchet & Clank: Cleavage]

Rift Apart Launched with a parade in honor of Ratchet and Clank presents Clank Ratchet the Dimensionator. which is a device that can open the door to various dimensions In order for the two to be able to find another member of Ratchet’s species, it was a tender moment that Dr. Nefarious instantly destroyed by stealing. Dimensionator from meditating on his own evil

But this is a standalone project for a mad scientist. because no one saw the robot with his right hand a few minutes later As he lost the game’s first boss fight. Dr. Nefarious shouted, “This is what I got from having my assistant pay for my father’s leave!”

This story is funny for some reason. Which is at least because Lawrence is a robot. But what makes me laugh every time I think about it is Dr. Nefarious, an evil mastermind who is aiming to overtake the galaxy not only in his dimension but also in the universe. all Dimension – Offers his “employee” benefits and not just standard benefits like health insurance or PTO, but good benefits. The United States government does not guarantee paid parental leave. But Dr. Nefarious did.

This joke was easily missed, but eventually Insomniac pushed it a bit further. After the last boss Rift ApartShort version of the credit roll. with cute vignette of various characters received after the game One picture shows Lawrence introducing his boss to his new child. Dr. Nefarius stood with his mouth agape. the heart circles around the head

The whole picture here seems absurd. But it also helps us see better who Dr. Nefarious, he’s an idiot, he’s evil, but he too. careOf course, maybe he’s just interested in Lawrence and that new kid. But it’s nice to see that he has such strong feelings for things outside of his work, that people are so obsessed with what they do for a living (such as taking over the world) that they forget to appreciate the beauty of life.

I do not forgive most of Dr. Nefarious’s actions in Rift Apart. He’s a troublemaker to say the least. But at least he cared enough about his assistant’s welfare to give him enough time to become a father. For this reason — and for this reason frankly — we should honor Dr. Nefarious as a leader and humanitarian.
