Four years after its release, the Samsung Galaxy S8 received the latest security update. The Galaxy S8 is a Samsung success story released in the spring of 2017 with a striking design that drew attention to the Galaxy battery issue. Well-documented Note 7 over the past six months.
The S8 is a design change for Galaxy devices, with a wider edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels, making it one of the best looking phones we’ve seen so far. It’s not just a device that looks good. It offers great hardware and a great camera, combined with limited software functionality.Best of all, its battery doesn̵7;t flare up.
Samsung recently released an official policy of providing Galaxy devices with four years of security updates, including the flagship S-series and even the budget-focused A-series models. Premium devices tend to receive monthly updates at least for the first few years, with cadence slowing down to quarterly or yearly updates at the end of their service life. It’s one of the best support policies in the industry – definitely for Android, and very close to Apple’s general lengthy device support schedule.
As the S8 and S8 Plus end their support period, the S8 Active is still on schedule for quarterly updates and the S8 Lite is on track for two years.
