The hot spots in the Earth̵7;s core are responsible for the creation of the Hawaiian Islands.
The new study suggests that scientists have discovered another layer deep within the Earth’s core.
“Traditionally, we have been taught that the world has four main layers: the crust, mantle, outer core and inner core,” said the Australian National University geophysicist and lead author Joanne Stephenson.
A team of university researchers has now confirmed the existence of the so-called. “The innermost core” of the world
To study the Earth’s core, the team used search algorithms to drag through and match thousands of inner core models with decades of observational data about how long the seismic waves in. A journey through the world, ScienceAlert reports.
By analyzing how layers slow down the sound waves, scientists can see what lies beneath, Discover magazine says.
Although this new layer is hard to notice But its existence may point to some notable and unknown events in the history of the world, according to studies.
Volcanic eruptions: The eruption of La Soufriere volcano has left thousands of people fleeing on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent.
“We found evidence that could indicate a structural change in steel indicating two cooling events in world history,” Stephenson said in a statement. “The details of this big event are a little bit of a mystery. But we’ve added another puzzle when it comes to our knowledge of the Earth’s core. ”
The concept of different layers in the core has been around for a few decades. But the data has not been clear until now. “We were able to solve this problem by using a very smart search algorithm to drag trawles through thousands of axes models,” Stephenson said.
She added that examining the structure of the inner core could help us better understand Earth’s history and evolution.
“It’s very exciting – and it probably means we have to rewrite the textbook!” She said.
The study is published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, a publication of the American Geophysical Union.
