Stanford University requires students to be vaccinated as UC, Cal State has the same plans for the transfer.

Thousands of students returning to Stanford this fall will need to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, university officials announced Thursday because of the two large public university systems. California has outlined a similar plan.

California State University said Thursday it expected it to have requirements similar to that of Stanford. But it will hold until the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves at least one vaccine, which may not happen until the fall of the semester. The FDA has now authorized three vaccines for emergency use in the fight against a deadly epidemic.

The University of California has a similar offer pending. It is mandatory that all students, staff, and trainees living or working on campus are required to be vaccinated once the FDA approves the vaccine completely. The regents will meet on May 1

2 and 13 until they approve the policy. UC said it was “encouraging COVID-19 vaccination”.

All in all, the requirement will affect more than 1 million students, prompting CSU Prime Minister Joseph Castro to call the announcement a “public education”. “The University’s Most Comprehensive and Consistent COVID-19 Vaccination Plan in the Country”
