Steven Mnuchin, former finance minister, retired in January. But the hotel accommodation for the Secret Service officer who remained with him cost taxpayers more than $ 30,000, according to The Daily Beast.

Mnuchin was not available for comment when contacted by The Daily Beast on Saturday.

Executives outside the former president often do not receive additional protection from the Secret Service.
However, former President Donald Trump extended a six-month profile of full-time security to adult children and three senior officials, including Munshin, before leaving office, according to The Washington. Post
Other former Trump administration members who have received the security are former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and former National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien.
The taxpayer-funded security details include former senior adviser Ivanka Trump and her husband, former senior adviser Jared Kushner, along with Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and wives Lara Trump and Tiffany Trump.
Trump’s grandchildren are also part of an expanded security profile due to their close proximity to their parents.
