Jerome Gillen, president of Tesla’s Heavy Truck Company, resigns from the company on June 3, 2021. Gillen has been helping Tesla grow for more than a decade.
The head of Tesla’s finance office authorized a Form 8-K announcing the departure of Jerome Gillen. The document has little to do with the longtime executive’s resignation.
“As of June 3, 2021, Tesla, Inc. (“Tesla”) President Jerome Guillen has left Tesla. We thank him for his dedication and wish him good luck in his future career.” Says about Guillen’s departure from the EV car maker.
Guillen was previously president of Tesla̵7;s automotive division. As of March 11, 2020, Guillen became President of Heavy Trucking at Tesla, possibly a strategic move for the company based on his background. Guillen previously worked for Freightliner Trucks and provided information. Good insights for the development of the Tesla Semi.
Tesla is expected to begin production of the semi later this year. It’s unclear whether Guillen’s exit from Tesla will affect the Semi’s production. Tesla hasn’t provided information about the Semi’s production since its last earnings call, when Elon Musk noted that the company was still developing trucks. For heavy duty Class-8 stays
As of this writing, Guillen has not commented on his leave. Elon Musk has not commented on Guillen’s departure either.
This isn’t the first time Guillen has stepped away from Tesla. He also left the company abruptly in 2015, prior to the Model X launch. At the time, he continued to show support for Tesla and was spotted at the Tesla Supercharger at Mt. Shasta. Interacting with Model S customers, he later rejoined the company as vice president of trucks and projects.
