The United States Postal Service plans to cut prices on stamps.

The U.S. Postal Service said Friday it plans to raise first-class postage prices to 58 cents from 55 cents to offset lower revenues as volumes plummeted.

Over the past 10 years, email volumes have dropped 28 percent, USPS said in a statement, and it has continued to decline.

Prices for postcards, international mail and other services will increase as well, effective Aug. 29.
