A day after the CDC released new masking guidelines, the retailer began announcing changes to their fully vaccinated concealment policy.

Target has eliminated mask requirements for fully vaccinated customers, joining Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, Costco and other businesses.

Target’s updated mask policy starts Monday for customers and employees. But retailers strongly recommend that unvaccinated customers and employees wear masks. And customers who live in areas with state or local regulations may still be required to wear the mask regardless of their vaccination status.

Based on updated recommendations from the CDC last week, Target will no longer require vaccinated guests and team members to wear face-mask clothing in our stores, unless required by local law. The retailer said in a statement on Monday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new masking guidelines Thursday and said most Americans who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask in their home and do not have to wear a mask outside, even in crowded areas.

Retailers are ditching masks: Walmart, Starbucks, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Publix no longer require masks for vaccinated customers.

“Face masking will continue to be highly recommended for all unvaccinated guests and team members, and we will continue to implement increased safety and cleaning measures as well as social aloofness.” Across our stores, ”Target said.

Target initially required the mask at stores across the country on Aug. 1, slower than most retailers.

But when it started announcing mask requirements on July 16, Target said more than 80% of Target’s stores needed face masking due to local and state regulations.

Privately-owned businesses still have to use masks, which most of the country’s largest retailers started bidding last summer. There are other exceptions when the CDC recommends masks, such as in healthcare settings, transportation hubs such as airports and stations, and on public transport.
