Officials said two people were killed and as many as 25 injured in concert shootings on Sunday morning in northwest Miami-Dade, officials said. Police said one of the injured was in critical condition.
Filming began just after midnight at a concert in a billiard hall on the 7600 block of Northwest 186th Street, a county-less area west of Miami Gardens, Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez said.
Some concert performers outside when a white Nissan Pathfinder pulled up, Ramierz said, three unidentified people stepped out of the SUV with an assault rifle and handgun and began firing into the crowd.
“We believe this is the target of gun violence,” Ramirez said.
Two people were killed from gunshots and 20 to 25 more injured by gunshots. One of the injured was in a critical condition. The injured were taken to several hospitals.
“This kind of gun violence has to stop,” Ramirez said. “It’s the same every weekend. This goal is definitely not random. “
This is the second major shootout in the Miami area over Memorial Day weekend. Late Friday through Saturday, one person was killed and six others were injured in a shooting drive in the Wynwood area of Miami.
“It is very difficult to stop many people who want to go out there and commit murder, and we all have to stop it,” Ramirez said. Children and communities are safe “
Police have yet to provide details of the three people who shot into the crowd. Anyone with gun shooting or sniper information please call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
