Lt. Col. Brian Loveless said officers were still trying to determine if the shooting took place. shortly before noon A man at a Lackland factory reported hearing two gunshots coming from outside the base.

“We have some clues as to what happened. And we are investigating it right now,” Loveless said.

No one was hurt in the incident and Loveless said they were being assisted by a number of agencies as they tracked down information about the reported shooting.

Loveless said they had to take the reporting seriously and thank local law enforcement for their help with the investigation.

Jennifer Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for SAPD, said the scene was not identified.

In an initial tweet, JBSA called it an “active athlete warning.”

“All base personnel immediately proceeded with LOCKDOWN procedures and accessed cover. Lockdown in the real world, lockdown, lockdown,” JBSA tweeted earlier.


The base then eased into lockdown. Officials said before 2:10 p.m., nearly two hours after JBSA ordered officials to cover up immediately. Fully unlock the lockdown around 2:30 p.m.
