Sites like Spotify, Airbnb, Etsy, and Pinterest use AWS as their cloud hosting service.

Bottom line

While it would be possible to get away from the big tech companies, or at least minimize their reliance on them. But it is difficult

From social media to online shopping, the biggest tech companies are ingrained in the fabric of the Internet. There is definitely an alternative. But whatever you get with privacy, you may lose functionality.
