Rather than trying to rewrite grasshopper tracking software for newer tablets, Cressman thinks building a simple smartphone app will be more efficient than helping anyone gather information like an expert. He contacted Dr. Hughes, who has built a similar mobile tool with the Food and Agriculture Organization, to track devastating pests like worms that fall through PlantVillage, which he founded.
